Our Mission is to help women achieve wealth and success
Allow me to introduce myself. I have been a hairdresser in the Los Angeles area for 22 years, and have been an Aveda salon owner for 17 years. I can say that in 22 years of service to beauty I have done one thing consistently: I have learned, or should I say, "I have been schooled". I believe for most salon owners it is a journey not only professionally but personally. My observation of this industry is that for whatever reason it supports men, men are legendary. I have been around long enough to know that there are some great women who supported these legends, Jean Bra/Paul Mitchell, Annie Humphries/Vidal Sassoon, Geri Cusenza/John Sebastian…..to name a few. I still believe this happens today. It always has amazed me that an industry primarily about creating beauty is externally driven by men. I say externally because I believe women drive our business internally with little or no credit.
Our younger generation of stylists has no idea how women have contributed to our industry. Therefore who are their role models, men? Don't get me wrong I love men and some of my closest advisors are men. Men who are or who have become legends are very aware of what women can contribute to their success. I think we as women should not forget that men bring something very important to the table. Men and women together create balance. Yet we cannot lose the history of these legendary women. It's like the history books losing Harriett Tubman's, Eleanor Roosevelt's, Jane Adams, or Clara Barton's contribution to society and give us as women strong female role models. Creating Sagely women role models for the young upcoming talent is key to the future success of women in the beauty industry.
My journey has affected me professionally and personally, The Sage Society is now my professional and personal quest. It is not my desire to be a famous hairstylist. It's my desire to provide women with a platform to accomplish their dreams. To watch women achieving their aspirations and think that I had a very small part in that success would give me great satisfaction. I look forward to the possibilities. Please join me in the wise practice of a Sage.
